The needs of the children of Tanzania are immeasurable by western standards. Deplorable living conditions, malaria, HIV/AIDS, all have contributed to an inhumane standard of living and we must help. Tumaini Children’s Foundation is a Canadian, not for profit, charitable organization dedicated to the care, support and education of orphaned and needy children in and around the village of Usa River, (near Arusha) Tanzania.

Mama Dee
Simcoe, ON and Tanzania, Ontario and Arusha, Canada
Cherie Szucs (Mama Dee) Founder -Born in Toronto, Cherie grew up in Mississauga & Burlington & when in Canada lives in Simcoe, Ontario. She attended Mohawk College (accounting) & McMaster University (Women’s Studies/Religious Studies) & is a registered real estate broker & ginseng farmer. Her volunteer work includes the Burlington Junior Chamber of Commerce; Girl Guides of Canada; Big Brothers/Big Sisters & several committees within her church. The despair Africa has haunted Cherie for years, & her research led her to Tanzania which at the time was the poorest country in the world not at war. She made her initial visit and met two Tanzanians (Oddo Ndonde & Grace Matemu) who introduced her to the realities of a desperately poor village called Usa River. Her work began with home visits, assessing need & providing food & emergency medical care. Upon her return to Canada she began writing about the children she had met; speaking at schools, churches, organizations & began collecting donations which she & her husband then shipped to Tanzania. Her application for charitable status was granted in early 2010 & Tumaini Children’s Foundation was born!
